    [News] Charles Bronson Parole Hearing.

Ashford Remand Centre and Feltham Young Offenders Institute. When I got the first posting to Ashford they asked if I was happy. I said, I had asked for Adult Training Prison in Sussex. On being told it was a Young Offenders Remand centre in Middlesex, I replied that it was just like my first...

    [News] Charles Bronson Parole Hearing.

As I said I have not seen the documentaries so can’t comment on them. I would say that prisoners, in my experience, will tell you what they think you want to hear. It’s a very human attribute. The nearest thing to real prison life was Ronnie Barkers Porridge. Honestly! If a day passed without...

    [News] Charles Bronson Parole Hearing.

The last I heard is that he is never unlocked without 3 officers being present. I haven’t seen the documentaries and I left the Prison Service 20 years ago so am not up to date with this. The parole board are not going to take a chance imo. All prisons are run with the goodwill of prisoners...

    [News] Charles Bronson Parole Hearing.

That’s not actually true though. You are right of course but the people above them will want to reduce the cost of keeping him. This could mean a less secure location than 23 hours a day lock up which is the most expensive option. As I said, he is not trusted to behave on normal location in a Cat B prison so can hardly be...

    [News] Charles Bronson Parole Hearing.

There is a reason he is kept locked up 23 hours a day. His record of hostage taking and intimidation is horrendous. Ask yourself if you would like the responsibility of signing his release papers? People talking about open prison conditions. This is a man who isn’t trusted on normal location in...

    [News] Charles Bronson Parole Hearing.

Not an expert but it can’t be a good idea to go from 23 hours a day lock-up to suddenly walking the streets. It is very expensive to keep someone locked up which will come into the equation. Glad it’s not me making the decision.
