Whilst it’s sad that places close down, the pandemic is providing an opportunity for others. There’s quite a few new places opening up here in spaces vacated by businesses which didn’t survive. I follow a food blog and this May the “new” section was rammed. Most are small independent businesses...
Agree with this. When Rayner was celebrating 20 years as a critic he wrote about his review style. He said that he always weaves a related side story into his review, to highlight something of interest but to also make the review more interesting. I note that NSC’s answer to Jay Rayner...

Nice to read a review; I was wondering how it was going. His latest venture is a bit “out there”; could you tell if it’s proving popular? Where exactly in the pub is he cooking?
Also, the guide first came out in 1900 and still includes many “traditional” restaurants....it’s down with the dinosaurs so maybe give it a read and try a place out?
