I understand they also move some of their UK revenue out to Holland under a similar intellectual property licensing arrangement which Starbucks abused i.e. moving their profits and corporate tax obligations in the UK to the lower tax regime of Holland.

It's nice that you have a job where your security is just about your perfection. Others don't.

Why should a product be propped up by workers on woeful job security, limited rights and protection? And I'm willing to bet you'd be calling a different tune if it was your job or profession which was being screwed into the ground.

PS I use a smart phone App here where I press a button and a taxi arrives at my current location. The taxi (always a Merc ) also appears on the map on the screen so I can see it arriving and how long it will be etc. Don't Brighton or London taxis have this?

Its not Uber per se I have an issue with. Fair competition is fine with me. It's more the absolute obliteration of wages, workers rights and worker protection that worry me. As The Spanish has pointed out it's the extreme end of capitalism. It's capitalism in its purest form. And this always...

Quite. And it undermines taxi driving as a profession....this really grates with me.

How do you know that's that's the plan? Coincidentally I had a discussion about uber with my London chums tonight....they're very much anti uber for the reasons I have given.

If the government is having to top-up uber driver's salaries then your £25 from Brighton to Lancing doesn't seem like a market rate.

Rip off Brighton cab? You mean one where you pay a proper price which doesn't require government subsidy like uber? If you want to be ripped off in Brighton catch a bus.

Is having a screwdriver a profession? Is having a sink plunger a profession? It can be.

What do you mean by it needs a shake up? Maybe it does but this doesn't mean allowing the profession a race to the bottom.....like so many other sectors have now experienced. Brighton and London taxis are not perfect, see my earlier post about my own experience and the Tuk Tuk thing was crap...

Maybe they see their profession under threat and being undermined?

I do understand thank you. And I think I prefer to support the taxi profession.
