I'm a one-man think tank tonight :smile: I really like Xmas so I prefer to keep it.

Decision should be down to the individual ie personal responsibility. If everyone thought a little bit more about their actions and their impact on others then Brighton would be a much better place. The only people who can solve the congestion issue are the drivers themselves.

Rebalance the economy towards manufacturing then. Then we can also get rid of Xmas. Next :smile:

Sure. But I simply do not believe every single one of the 36 million cars owned in the UK is needed by a 200 mile driving dad or a crosstown carer. I appreciate some need a car but I'm not convinced everyone does, or every journey is necessary. This is my point.

If it takes you an hour and a half to cycle just 3 miles may I suggest you ditch the car more often and get yourself a bit fitter?

Does everyone need to do a week's shopping? I just buy food as and when I need it on the way home from work. Never done a week's shopping in my life.

I have no issue with people using cars when necessary but I do believe a lot of trips are totally avoidable.

My reply was, in part, to a comment about driving across town. Walk or cycle or get public transport. Brighton has a huge congestion issue and it is in part the attitude of people like you and others which contributes to the issue. Think about your actions and their impact on others; otherwise...

Obviously but I do feel a significant number of people use cars out of pure laziness. I knew people who regulatory used their car for 1-2 mile trips to supermarkets. That's lazy.

The furniture stores I used to go to were city-centre. Look, sit, buy, get delivered to house. Simples and no car needed.

The answer is laziness.

You need a car to be able to go and sit on a sofa? The problem I mention in my previous post is clearly worse than I thought.

Just because it's not full of high street brands doesn't mean it's not a shopping area.

It's this attitude which is the problem. I'm not convinced people need cars as much they feel they do. Some might do but a hell of a lot of people don't. And all the while this attitude prevails then the centre of Brighton will be the clogged up choking mess it currently is.
