I have a hifi question. I plan to upgrade the hifi system. I know little about the subject, so need some help. I plan to buy an amplifier, i.e. not an integrated amp. Am I correct in thinking I will only need a preamp for the turntable? And the CD has a sufficiently big enough signal to go...
I'd agree. I got into TWOD via Slave Ambient. Also saw them live on that album. The new one is a significant leap forward in many ways but Slave still holds it's ground. Knowing your taste Mellotron I doubt you'll be disappointed.
Sage advice, sage advice.
Since I started this thread I have now bought around 30 pieces and this weekend added Ariel Pink's Pom Pom (I got there in the end SHC!) wonderful gatefold double 12" embossed sleeve edition to my collection. I also liked the Frau's Magic Whip package so much I bought...
Strange that someone has bounced my thread as I started buying vinyl a couple of months back. So far only a few pieces to see how I get on and as I do not have a record player with me I listen to the digital version whilst looking at the 12" packaging. But it is such a different experience to...
I've been looking at decks online. I took a look at some of the silly priced fancy turntables and cannot figure out if some are a bit 'minimal' but complete or are just spare parts.
Thanks. Will investigate Pro-Ject. New Aparrat album is a theatre score so a bit different to his regular output and mixes he puts out. His last regular album was The Devil's Walk.
This post was the clincher. Well, this and last Saturday spent browsing in a vinyl shop and seeing my current favourite album (Aparrat's Krieg and Frieden-he's is playing Brighton in a church soon so please go and see him) in WHITE vinyl. I literally spent about 2 minutes just staring at the...
Cheers. It's that Atoms for Peace AMOK album which has got me in this conundrum. It looks an absolute work of art and it comes with either a free CD or a download so I get the best of both worlds.
For the record I'm 44 (no pun intended).
You are correct. Me and my wife had some shelves built to hold and showcase our CD collection. It covered one wall and went around the corner onto another. It held around 1400 CDs. All of my purchases were on show, so I had some awkward moments when people spotted Marillion or Bon Jovi and my...
Apart from DJ types, does anyone still choose vinyl over CD or digital these days? And I presume no one buys cassettes any more.
I'm being tempted as a fair number of new albums are being released in wax, and most seem to come with a CD or download thrown in.
