    I don't think performance in a FPTP election is a reliable indicator of how people would vote in a PR election. For example, it's an absolute certainty that the Greens would get a higher vote - they regularly poll about 5% in opinion polls but score about 1 or 2%. And I'm not sure that far...

    I'm not sure why that's a bad idea. We had a coalition throughout WW2 and that did a pretty good job. It was suggested that one of the reasons we ended up with such a bad Brexit deal is that mainland European politicians are brought up on coalitions and, therefore, their entire political lives...

    The strangest thing about this thread is the number of people who think that objects like railcards, NI cards and NHS cards are photo ID. (shakes head in wonder) And there's no guarantee that having photo ID will always be accepted. I have a press card with my photo on it and yet I've had banks...
