Or they could go back to the A Level system when I took them. Back in the day, there was no pass mark as such (or a mark that got you an A). A certain percentage passed, a certain percentage got As etc. It meant that something like 40% of candidates (or 30%, I can't remember the number) failed...

It's "What is the criterion now"? That's an English fail :)
