Yes t would. It would reduce the pressure of traffic from Coastway West on the BML, and would, if routed sensibly via Dorking and Leatherhead would bypass the E. Croydon bottleneck.

This - especially if they are routed north of Horsham via Dorking and Leatherhead, thus avoiding the East Croydon bottleneck, instead of just nipping across the rejoin the Brighton main line at Three Bridges.
