Agreed. Those 16-bit top-down football games were the SHIZ. Mind you, I soon became a massive fan of PES when that came out on the PlayStation. A night round a mates house with a bottle of Thunderbird and a PES tournie...happy days. None of this playing online lark.

Sensible Soccer was ridiculously addictive, very slick and hugely playable, but a touch simplistic (which was part of its charm, but also its slight flaw for me). When Kick Off 2 arrived though, THAT became the daddy. Those raking Dunk-esque long angled crossfield passes into space down the...

I'm grateful for the suggestions. However, I know this is sacrilege, but Subbuteo was gubbins. Thank god (well, Dino Dini) that Kick Off was eventually invented.

Oh blimey now you're talking, I LOVED my snooker table. One of the happiest days of my life was when my sister got married and moved out, thus vacating her room. That Christmas I got a 6 foot table permanently installed in her old room, and pretty much spent every evening on it either on my...

Worry ye not. I had the best collection of Action Man and Action Man vehicles in Sussex and Surrey. Tanks, helicoptors, jeeps, Space Ranger (with the rubber suit). I even had the bearded black one, he was a mean mutha. Then the Star Wars merchandise started coming out...

The carpet was fine it was the cloth, which after being folded up in the box for ages, always had big long creases in it. I wasn't allowed to use the iron in cased somebody phoned.

I really tried to like Subbuteo, but could just never get on with it. The giant ball looked shite next to the players, and the creases in the cloth sent it all over the shop. Rubbish representation of the game. Lego though, oh my. I was ADDICTED to the Space Lego, loved it.

I used to LOVE being taken to Gamleys as a kid to browse around and choose a new game or toy, even though sometimes, yes, I'm sure I'd scream (spoilt brat that I was). Just another example of the internet killing off another little part of childhood I suppose.
