Well that pretty much goes without saying.
The point I am making is that Gus was prepared to hang on for 18 months before finally landing Ulloa, and for a very substantial chunk of his playing budget. That is an illustration of just how highly he rates him, and therefore makes it that bit more...
Its fair to say that Ulloa turned out to be a considerably more successful signing than Harley though, is it not ? So its not much of a stretch to think that with the form Ulloa showed under Gus, he'd make a move for him again.
The fact that Gus wasn't the one sorting out Ulloa's work permit...
Indeed.
Timing is everything as well. If a crazy offer came in that was too good to turn down, but it were to happen late in the month and we didn't have anything coming back the other way in the deal (ie Wickham), with no time to sign an adequate replacement, then from a promising position...
Gus kept his powder dry to wait for Ulloa to become available - that was money he could have spent elsewhere a lot sooner, but instead he held fire because he wanted Ulloa. That shows how highly he rates him, so it will come as no surprise if he does come in for him this month.
Just like any...
Considering Gus pursued Ulloa for about 18 months before finally landing him, it'll be no great surprise to see him come sniffing around for him before the month is out. Would pretty much put paid to any lingering top 6 pretensions here if he went though IMO.
