Big Ego... no doubt...
Sometimes like a moody teenager.... yep true..
I'm gonna leave home if I dont get my own way..... yep..
Lots of top sportsmen and artists etc have delicate Egos, and these need to be handled in a certain way..
I dont think he needed to give in to his every demand no. I think he needed to manage Gus's ego better. Make him feel wanted. I think instead Bloom and Barber maybe played hardball with him, to show jhim it was 'their' club not his.. If they had been more sensitive Gus would have stayed..
Reconcile with US.
Its not a cyclical thing when you have a good manager... Alex Fergusson's reign wasnt cyclical... it was consistent. So was Poyets regin with us. Consistantly UP.
Now its consistently down.
We need the truth of his sacking to come out, because that is where the poison that is...
THis is kind of what I mean. I dont really like him either... but when managing Egos you have to rise above personal feelings.
FFS he was doing an awesomne job. Look what he did for the club!
yep... and treating him like that.. after what he'd done for the club was a bad error.
Gave out all the wrong signals to the media, and potential players and managers. We started to look like an ungrateful egotistical club.. honestly.. sacking probably our best manager ever for 'gross...
I reckon Bloom and Barber thought Gus was getting too big for his boots. They wanted to show him whose club it was.
Unfortunately I think that shows that they were naive. Managing the Egos of talented people is a skill. They let THEIR egos get in the way... and it turned into a showdown.
I know... pissed me off too... but Poyet had been shafted for months by then...
Delicate Ego... no doubt about that.. lots of top talent has delicate egos. Did Bloom manage him like a 'artist'? or try and show him 'who's boss'
Until we know, until its out in the open and fixed, top players and top managers will view us with suspicion. We have to go back to where it went wrong and work out what went wrong. We need to know.
Think of that list of players that have left since then.. and the quality of the players we now attract. Oscar going was indicitive too... It wasnt that he didnt want to manage in England. He didnt want to manage us.
I'm amazed we've let the club get away with not really telling us what...
This is bit more catastrophic than any other leaving/sacking that ever happened before though isnt it. This has been apocalyptic. My point is that until we actually know what the hell happened I dont think we will move forward. We've stopped attracting the top players and managers.. they are all...
