This is it exactly. Show me the Conservative gains and I might believe this landslide. The lib dems may very well take several seats off the conservatives, which had been solid lib dem seats before 2015. If there was a general election tomorrow I think the result would be pretty much the same...

I am aware of that, but Corbyn isn't going to start being electable and he is there to stay. It is rare, though, for the party of government to increase their majority in the house. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I doubt May wants one. Why not wait and beat Corbyn in a few years and get to be in power even longer? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

May should try and get a general election under way, but she won't as she will like Corbyn in charge of Labour as long as possible. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

This. Labour was unelectable without middle class votes, and still is. It is not a coincidence that few Labour leaders ever win a general election. Before recently pretty much every conservative leader had.

I doubt he will win by quite that much, if indeed he will win at all. I think many members can see he is not up to the job. I know several myself.

It's really nothing to be happy about if you believe in the type of democracy we have in this country. It is vital to have a strong opposition, an opposition that scares the government. Hopefully with Jeremy not on the ballot Labour will be able to provide this in time.

    The Jeremy Corbyn thread

This is exactly the danger the party faces. People who actually want to be in opposition.

What is your issue with Kyle? He won a very difficult seat for the party you supposedly support.

    The Jeremy Corbyn thread

Well it is since those 170 odd represent a lot of people, who are not just labour party members, or swp supporters.

A lot of the rebel MPs are not Blairites. Besides, I'd say many of the mps, especially those in swing seats do know what the electorate want, and that is precisely why they are trying to unseat him.

Probably because we have a leader who the members want, but the MPs do not, whose position has become untenable, but will not step down. The party might even split apart. Looks like a mess to me.

What do you think should happen then? Get rid of 172 mps?

They are the official labour party. I assume you were complaining when Corbyn was a rebel in a labour government, something he has no chance of achieving himself. You seem quick to judge losers on here, but you support Corbyn without a reason. He has to go, and staying is damaging the party.

He's finished and has got to go.

Dianne Abbot should be nowhere near the front bench. Jeremy has to go, but he has an arrogance I did not expect from him. If there is a general election in the next few months and he runs with that shadow cabinet it will be a disaster.

Watson declines to back him now. It's all over for Jeremy now.

    The Jeremy Corbyn thread

This is a pretty right wing country really. It is no coincidence a left wing government hasn't been elected in years. The Labour party has got to be centrist or red tory whatever they call it, because otherwise they will never win a general election. The shadow cabinet know this.
