How different is that to accounts that people like Conway, when he signed for us on loan, said he had spoken to Gordon Greer, whom he knew through the Scotland camp.
For goodness sake - Conspiracy theories rule or what! As someone else has said, English isn't Gus's first language.
Because he was still - nominally at least - our manager. Therefore it would presumably be part of his normal duties. He wasn't suspended until after that happened (I think), so maybe that was why he went. Would "failing to carry out a direct order" count as gross misconduct? Quite possibly, I...
I think between personnel managers 20 years ago there were "codes" in references. That might be just sticking to the dates and nature of employment rather than giving any opinion if you actually thought they were rubbish.
But here, everyone knows he was dismissed for gross misconduct. In...
Having read that, some of the comments it evoked and some of the comments there have been on here, I'd really quite like to see GP get the job and get them in to Europe, like, man, like, just to be contrary.
I even seem to have developed a Wearside accent while writing.
I am one of those who regarded Di Canio as a mad choice, but am interested to hear someone who seems fairly level headed come up with the opposite view. Some of us on here will actually listen to other people's views and take them on board!!!!!
According to my paper this morning, Meulensteen is coming in to the frame.
If Gus doesn't get it because of his dismissal, presumably it would make him all the more determined to carry on with the legal proceedings.
It just made me wonder whether there would be a quiet chat off the record with Tony Bloom or someone else at the centre of it, or whether that would be totally out of the question. And then, what the nature of that quiet chat would be - "It was great most of the time and we really regret how it...
A piece in the Guardian this morning by Louise Taylor indicates that the Sunderland Chairman is looking in to the circumstances of GP's dismissal from BHAFC. It actually uses the expression "detailed inquiries", and then goes on to say "The identity of their new manager may well hinge on Short's...
I hope he gets the job.
But I hope we don't draw them in the cup, because it will only start all this tedious rubbish off again. The two camps which are battling it out on here will never agree, so why bother.
Strangely, my impression would be that most of the bullying was from the anti-Gus people.
But whatever, it is fairly pointless because it as ALL HISTORY. Onwards and upwards with Oscar.
How very reasonable. I totally agree. I was a Gus fan, hope he goes somewhere else and does well, as long as it is not against us, appreciate others will have stronger feelings than me, but do actually feel let down ad disappointed.
BUT IT IS ALL IN THE PAST.... and I'm not shouting at you, Sparkie
1. In a false position, maybe - but he still made the difference.
2. Having the best players does not necessarily mean you win everything in sight. it still takes a good manager. Put Paolo di Canio in charge of Real Madrid and they would probably get relegated. And were Murray and Crofts better...
You seem to lose sight of the facts that:
1. when GP took over, the club were in the relegation zone of Division 1
2. The following season we won the Division at a canter.
3. The season after that we finished in the top half of the championship, briefly flirting with play-off places.
4. last...
