He’s never looked quite good enough to be mainman upfront.

You are right that City’s forwards do not score much (and Firmino) but this is more a product of Guardiola having the luxury of an expensive squad superstars than a strategy of “Oi Jesus, oi aguero - we don’t need you to score, stop scoring”.
It doesn’t work with a less-resourced team at this...

You are right that some strikers can be effective even if their goal scoring is low. Back in the 80s we had Kevin Bremner - few goals, but a real handful. The difference is he had Gary Nelson along side him - full of goals.
Likewise, Firmino may have been moved on if salah and others weren’t...
