Ah. I assumed he was talking about stuff he'd bought - but either way, your music is on your phone/ipod or a computer, right? So as long as you have one or the other...
(what does iTunes Match actually do? I know nothing about it...)
As long as you have your Apple ID, the password/email combo you use to sign into the App Store, you're good to go. Doesn't matter where your music is 'physically', it's all tied to your account with Apple, and will show up again on your devices.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but downgrading to iOS7 if the 4S can't handle the processing is more complicated than just having an iTunes back up...

I'm not a fanboy by any stretch, but as I was searching for info on the update last night I found this well-written and interesting article explaining in layman's terms how Apple updates work, and how, ergonomically and psychologically, we are affected by them...
Lucky you. I miss the old design and was gutted when iOS7 came out. As much as it's 'better' and does 'more stuff', I liked the simpleness and faux-3D of it.
Mind you, I didn't see the point of our school updating our computer room from Commodore Pets to 64s. Colour? Waste of time.
