Agreed - as this family I observed in Tesco on Thursday night.
On the street you'd pick them out as people who largely don't give a **** about anyone else. And so it transpired.
I'm out and about tomorrow to take care of some dull tasks I've put off, so I'll see how it pans out.
Thus far though, I've been pleasantly surprised how most people have reverted back. I've always firmly believed that most folk are decent and will do the right thing when they need to.
No one is enforcing the 30mph limit on my street, but I don't try to see how fast I can go every time I leave the house in my car.
My experiences, although it's a very small sample size, couldn't be more different to the ones you describe...
Tesco Express North Star on Tuesday. All but one of...
Strange behaviour intentionally making a post, knowing it will be mis-read so you can then get all indignant when you got the exact response you were looking for.
Not really in keeping with the community spirit we're trying to engender, frankly.
Most of the people dying are fully vaccinated.
In the most recent period (13 Sept - 10 Oct) there were 2,805 Covid deaths, of which:
- 2,136 of them were fully-vaccinated (two doses)
- 557 of were unvaccinated people (no doses)
There's a huge amount of context to this I can't be arsed to go...
To clarify, you're saying that all of Sajid Javid, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Professor Stephen Powis, National Medical Director of NHS England and Jenny Harries, chief executive of the UK Health Security Agency were all fibbing to us today when they repeatedly impressed on...
Indeed. Although I'm not sure I've seen, heard or read of anyone trying to make that flawed point.
Whereas, I have seen, heard and read people making the flawed point I posted.
Two flawed points don't make a right.
What is right is that there are numerous sound scientific studies pointing to...
Sajid Javid is holding a 5pm press conference today.
Morocco has announced they are stopping flights to/from the UK (as well as Germany and Holland).
Today certainly has that "here we go again..." feel to it.
Not completely prevent, no. I'm not aware of anyone that believes that. But there's a wealth of research that strongly points to a reduction in spread when masks are used.
Knock yourself out (or just ignore if your mind is already made up)...

I find your approach to this - someone who seems to be a decent, sensible chap - really strange.
There is a wealth of sound scientific research that makes it clear that wearing a mask can provide a benefit in the reduction of viral spread. That's why I wear one. I don't enjoy wearing one, but...
We want to keep schools open for a whole host of reasons that I should not need to explain to anyone.
Both the 12-15 vaccination programme, as well as the third-shot booster programme, seem to have been progressing far slower than is ideal. Once those properly kick in, and reinforce our...
Same.
In a gig environment there is no point at all. After we've been to gigs, I think we're just more aware of any symptoms we may have, and LFT test. As it happens, I convinced myself I had become infected after we saw Elbow at the Centre a few weeks ago, but returned negative tests so...
Please - show me how mask-wearing increases spread.
I will do anything I reasonably can to limit my chances of infecting others.
If not wearing a mask is such a thing, I'll not wear a mask.
I' eagerly await your next post.
By all means point me in the direction of sound scientific research that demonstrates that mask-wearing INCREASES viral spread.
As ever, I remain open-minded to change.
My "view" is I don't want to pass on a virus that could harm or kill others. Are you saying you do?
No, masks don't make THE difference, but they do provide a marginal gain in restricting viral spread.
All marginal gains help to slow things down and mask-wearing is an easy one for most to do.
Well, like most folk on this thread it seems, I've digested enough scientific research to have convinced me that mask-wearing does provide a marginal benefit in the reduction of vial spread.
I want to keep going to football, I want my son to keep going to school, I want pubs and restaurants to...
That's the John Burn-Murdoch tweet thread. I posted it in the Covid forum a few days back, but it's probably worthy of a wider audience who may be interested. Follow from this tweet...

Unfortunately, simpletons will do/say this:
"Country X has enforced the wearing of masks and their cases have gone up. This therefore absolutely proves that masks do not work. Therefore we should not wear them here."
When people operate at that low-level of intelligence, it's almost impossible...
As others above, I still do on the few occasions I need to be indoors with others, such as shops etc, anyway.
It does feel like, once again, we're slow-car-crashing our way back into a bad place so any cheap/free, minor, unobtrusive measures we can take that may help to keep schools open, keep...
