The first thing to do after installing is to go to the app store and update all your apps. Most have issued an update for iOS 8. After doing that, if the memory is full, try moving some stuff off to give a bit more space to see if that helps.

It's always worth waiting a few days before updating. There are a lot of Apple geeks out there, so trying to update within the first few hours of it being available is always going to be a bit slow. I've just updated mine, had to upload and delete a load of photos which are easily synced back...
