So, basically, it was hauled back for the red card - because of course, VAR can't rule on fouls outside the box.

I'm really puzzled by this. Presumably the 'goal' was ruled out because of the foul in the build-up (ie: at the other end). But how could that really be the case - there were 45 seconds between the foul at one end and the goal at the other - surely that is plenty of time to 'reset' or whatever...
