    And presumably we'll have to refer to it as MacAllister's 'goal' - because if it was credited to Welbeck - then MacAllister wasn't the scorer and so it wasn't handball by the scorer. Which is the only reason to overturn it!

    My interpretation is that VAR can't directly overrule the on-field ref - it is the ref's decision that is final. But he can reach that decision with advice from the VAR ref. So - if VAR yesterday said 'clearly hit MacAllisters hand' - then the ref would take that advice and change his...
