Years ago looking for mushrooms along the banks of the river Avon and we found these dinner plate sized field mushrooms they were absolutely delicious

Not been mushrooming this year but have seem them in field whilst driving but went and collected chestnuts and they were some of the best I have seen for many a year down here in Sussex

As others have said mushroom season is generally Autumn September/October usually after a cool damp night need to get out early for field mushrooms as the animals will trample then if left but you can still find them in Febuary and to be fair it's been a mild winter so far, look out for Giant...
