I tend to go with info like post #4, although granted it isn't an absolute truth.

I suspect more that we are having to pour the resources from that pot and the 3rd goalie pot into the Delaney / striker coffers. This isn't a disaster though. The current 7 defenders + a new left back + U21 Gomez / Tomori should be fine I hope.
