I have a neutral view on that. I am on balance slightly against any action in Syria ( and if I was an MP would vote against UK airstrikes ).
But I am passionately against RT being treated as a worthy news source. I find this take on it 'interesting', and it is one of many similar opinions...
Which is of course fine.
However, when RT is quoted I will always point out that it is Putin's massive state propaganda machine - or 'Putin Today', in other terms.
Both articles from RT, which is Putin's State Propaganda Machine.
Both articles therefore have zero credibility, and pretty much no chance of containing much truth.
Well we wake up to Putin not bombing Turkey, and so we are not at war with Russia.
Good news, and hopefully he'll now stop his ongoing shennanigans in various sovereign airspaces.
Let's not get involved bombing Syria now, send a bit of naval support for the French aircraft carrier, nothing more.
Spheres of influence went out with the last century, and the breakup of the USSR.
However, I agree that no good can come of the RAF getting involved in bombing. No exit strategy, no lessons learnt.
Save our missiles and equipment for if we need them against Putin in the Baltics ( or Turkey ).
The argument is pretty much whether the shot down plane was in Turkish airspace.
Turkey says it was shot down there, and crashed in Syria.
US says it was in Turkish airspace for 'a few seconds'.
Russia says it was never in Turkish airspace.
Turkey seems from that very trigger happy.
Putin...
Russia now agreeing plane shot down by Turkish F16s.
However, saying it was done inside Syria.
This is crucial, and the actual truth will clarify where the fault lies.
I expect that the actual satellite data that the Americans will have will influence where we go from here.
Apparantly it would increase supply, and would provide the alternative to the russian source. Hence why Putin wants to keep Assad in power, or prolong the conflict, to prevent it.
It has been a credible theory for a while that Putin wants to prevent an alternative pipeline from Qatar to Europe to provide an easy alternative to Russian oil.
Mostly, but they do have a small amount of good stuff.
Like the S300 anti aircraft missile system they have installed in Syria ( presumably to shoot down all the ISIS aircraft... ).
If things kicked off this would have to be destroyed early days by the B2 Spirits and F22s, or we could see a lot...
