Look at the current stats for France and Israel. Both have strict rules about masks and both have much higher infection rates than the UK.
Let's assume masks make some sort of difference, I'll be generous and say a nice round 10% fewer infections. So France would peak at 440,000 cases a day...

We've been running at tens of thousands of daily cases since September, we'd struggle to reach zero covid in two months even with a full lockdown.

Is that taking into account deaths where Covid isn't the primary cause?

Not if you buy an FFP3 mask and wear it properly. They filter in both directions, they offer protection to the wearer.
I had this argument over and over on the mask thread a few months ago, too many people still believe that masks only protect other people.
