The ref may have ignored that as the shot was saved had he scored would have possibly given the free kick. I can never understand why a player taking a penalty hasnt the balls to just step and hit it or let somebody else take it, none of this fancy run ups and stuttering.

It would work if it was decided that the VAR decision was the final outcome. Refs wouldnt want that so will make more effort to get it right in the first place so that VAR would not over rule them
