Jay Rayner has paid to a visit to Bayside Social, Worthing. Sounds good. https://www.theguardian.com/food/2022/jan/23/jay-rayner-restaurant-review-bayside-social-worthing-riotous-wake-me-up-flavours
A mate of mine has eaten at the Istanbul branch and was also of the opinion that it was excellent. It seems like Mr. Bae has deviated from that somewhat though with the London enterprise. 50 quid for a cappuccino wrapped in gold
One of the only things that doesn't seem to have been...

As Jay suggests, you have to admire his chutzpah in relieving idiots of money they clearly don't need.
I totally agree with the first two but wouldn't recommend the Pailin. They used to get by being the only Thai place in Lewes but now they have two superior competitors within about 20 metres, they really need to up their game.
*disclaimer: I haven't eaten in the Pailin in years so they may in...
I went to Rustico in the summer and thought it was excellent. If I remember correctly, I had the buffalo mozzarella margherita with n'duja. The base was thin but robust enough to support the toppings and the crust was perfect, well-risen with a nice bit of blistering. Good service too.
That's something I can never understand. In Italy you can have an excellent pizza for 5 euro. Of course in the UK, overheads are often higher but no one needs to charge 15 quid from flour, water and a few toppings.
Jay Rayner mentioned in his column today a new place that's opening soon in Lewes https://www.fork-lewes.co.uk/
It's about time the town had a decent restaurant.
I'm by no means rich so usually a one star kinda guy. In my experience you can get a tasting menu for around 60 euro (I've done so in Spain, France and Italy). In Spain and Italy you can get a bottle of wine for 20ish, the place in Lyon I went to was a bit more. All in all less than 100 euro a...
I've eaten in a few Michelin-starred places and never once felt ripped off. On the other hand, every time I've been obliged to go to the likes of Pizza Express for a family birthday I've felt robbed, even with one of their promos.
I buy the cod salted, which is how it generally comes in Spain. Though I am a big fan of Roddy's writing, I'm pretty sure my standard tomato sauce predates her rise to fame. Hers is probably quite similar as I often go down the typical Italian route with a celery, carrot and onion soffritto...
As a fan of Spanish food, you'd have loved tonight's bacalao con tomate.
5 minute job Machiavelli (not including soaking the salt cod overnight and the ~2 hours making the tomato sauce last month before freezing)
Restaurants and bars are all open here but we're giving them a swerve for the time being. Thankfully, the stay at home tapas nights at Chez Bakero more than make up for it.
Saturday evening commenced with a bit of Ossau-Iraty cheese with toasted almonds and caper berries, which went down a...
