Running is good if you can get on with it as it gives you time to clear your head and think. If not running then walking is a decent substitute (i don't like running)
Just to reinforce what has already been said. Go and see your GP and find yourself a psychologist who you feel understands you, it may take a bit of time but the help you need is out there.

These are some things that have helped me.
The two biggest ones:
- Giving up Caffine - made a massive difference to me caffine seemed to raise anxiety and lead me off to a bad place.
- Cutting back on Alcohol - Again raises anxiety and messed with my head too much.
