Nice to have the time to go shopping every day after work, we have our weekly shopping delivered though, it saves hours.

No hyperbole ( I like that word but had to look it up), assumptions or misinformatio ( you made that one up I think) allowed on this thread thank you. :)

No sympathy required, thank you, I have built up lots of regular customers in Newhaven and the surrounding areas and I also get recommendations from local people and I do some local advertising. I was asked to estimate a job off St James's Street about 6 years back, i can't remember the exact...

After reading this thread it sounds like I'm better off not working in Brighton. Hanover sounds like fun these days, it used to be busy about 10 years back but some of the roads half way up Southover St were ok for a space. Going back to traders permits I'm sure I read that one heating company...

I can see a flaw with the leaving the van with the doors open, someone will unload it for you!! I sometimes use meters when I work in Lewes but I'm always checking the time and worrying about getting a ticket.

Genuine question here, as I no longer work in Brighton do most of the busy streets in the city centre have meters? When I used to work in Brighton I would take the easy option and pay to park if this was available, but some streets had residents bays and single/ double yellow lines, which meant...

Not sure it's for me to comment, I very rarely go to Brighton now, we have a very good train and bus service from Newhaven to Brighton. I do agree with what you are saying though.

Useful if all of your work is in Central Brighton & Hove, agree with you.

All of the above is spot on  Someone told me they couldn't finish a job in a road in Central Brighton as all the permits for that road had been allocated that day. Some roads are too narrow to pull up and drop off tools outside a job and then park elsewhere.

Agree, the jobs hard enough as it is, most jobs you need tools/ materials to hand.

Yes I do honestly, about 6 years ago I decided to only take on work from Woodingdean along the coast to Seaford, also work in Lewes and surrounding villages. Most of Brighton's streets a permit or some sort of payment is required, some other areas like Hanover I was parking 3 streets away from...

Exactly this. I come from Brighton originally and I am a tradesman but I will no longer work there, I turn down lots of jobs because of the parking restrictions.
