It's not being pedantic, it's being accurate. The Premier League is a breakaway from the Football League. It is its own corporate entity. The First Division we were in is part of the Football League and is now the Championship.

No, but the Premier League did begin in 1992. And we've not been in it yet. Now, if he'd said "first time in the top division" then fair enough.
