Have you registered (or at least had a chat) with any recruitment agencies ? The larger ones (firms like Hays for example) often have dedicated WFH sections on their vacancy websites. Easy to submit your CV to prompt a discussion.................
Surprised we haven't yet seen a ton of Occupational Health-related claims post-Covid for people being forced to work with inadequate facilities. I had a fleeting idea during Covid to set up a 'workstation assessment at home' service that companies could use to avoid claims from staff...............
Agree with all of that.......including the recruitment piece. Hearing from former colleagues that certain firms who are enforcing office attendance are losing people as a direct result
‘The employer’ would have been me, or one of my directors……..closer monitoring of output, more regular 1-1 check in calls, more regular checking of output (‘glad to hear you’re getting on with that report, ping me the latest draft‘ etc). Really very simple.
I had several staff that were happy to admit they didn’t get on with it at all……mostly those with young families or lacking the space to have a decent setup but not exclusively - there were a handful that admitted to getting too distracted or just unable to concentrate, or missing human contact...
Great when you’re on boring zoom calls though
Would also make sure you get as close as you can to a good ‘office’ set up. I was lucky in that we had a dedicated room where I could shut the door and I had a full desktop/two screen setup with handsfree phone and Bluetooth headset etc...
I did far more work at home and for longer hours than I ever did in the office. Most office time seemed to be spent chatting, sitting in pointless meetings or going for coffee (and I worked for most of the 3 hours I would have been commuting too)
