If defending others is a mitigation for using violence, where do you draw the line? Fans are at risk from injury from missiles being thrown just the same as a punch.

Compare this to West Ham rewarding ‘Knollsy’ for fighting off Alkmaar fans trying to storm their end last season. He was rewarded with a free ticket.
I am not condoning violence - just pointing out that there is a real inconsistency in how these events have been handled.
