Yeah, that's about what we expect. It's going to be up and down with the low hitting in between sessions in terms of weaker immunity and fatigue. We'll see how it goes. She has to go back for a check up next week so they can see how she's doing. She has a thing attached to her at the moment...
First chemotherapy session was this morning. Seemed to go off without a hitch and so far so good. Fingers crossed. We'll see how it goes over the next few days.
Chemo is going to be a lot. She has sessions every two weeks for eight weeks (i.e. 4 rounds) with two different drugs. Then she'll...
So we've been through a bit of a rollercoaster this week, but I think we're doing okay now.
The wound under the arm started to swell and then start to turn red. We had the follow up appointment coming, so we just waited until then. It was infected, but they've prescribed some antibotics that...
Surgery seemed to go okay today. Doctor said they only needed to remove one more lymph node after the one they already knew was bad. I think that's a good thing.
Still not sure what's going on with the one remote lymph node. She (the doctor) said they might biopsy it later, or just scan it...
Thanks Zeb. Yeah, we feel a lot better about things now. The question of spread is the difference between something that can probably be dealt with and something that might be a death sentence.
It going to be a tough few months ahead, but I feel like it something that we have a good chance of...
Some good news. Just got the results from the PET scan and whatever is going on with those distant lymph nodes, it doesn't look like cancer. I am so relived.
They will probably still want to keep an eye on them and maybe scan or biopsy them later, but for now, we should be good to go.
Will...
PET scan today. My wife is terrified of what it might find. She convinced herself of the worst and, to be honest, I can't say she's been entirely wrong so far. They stick a radioactive dye in you that is supposed to accumulate in tissues that are rapidly metabolizing (something cancers tend to...
Yeah, I try to keep telling myself that. As upsetting as learning these things can be, it's better than not knowing. Not knowing doesn't change anything. Ignoring things, sadly, doesn't make them go away. It's better to know everything and treat everything than find out months or years later...
I was hoping to update this thread with some more positive news, but I'm not sure what our recent developments ultimately mean.
We met with the surgical oncologist and she was very nice and spent a good chunk of time with us discussing the diagnosis and treatment. The plan was/is for a partial...
Thanks for all your kind thoughts Zeberdi, I do appreciate them.
On the results being available thing, yeah, it strikes me as weird and not necessarily productive. They have a big push to digitalize all your medical records. Which can be good. When you come back from the doctors and can't...
Thanks everybody. My wife just came home and was on the phone with the nurse practitioner that's been her primary contact so far. She talked us off the ledge a bit telling us that CT scans can turn up all kinds of stuff and it isn't necessarily all bad. Or even maybe bad at all. They want to...
So yesterday my wife had CT scans to determine if the cancer had spread. She hasn't heard anything officially yet, but she can see he results online and it looks bad. Possibly very bad. It mentions a nodule on her lungs and something on her cervix. This is potentially really bad news. If it has...
In a similar vein to the My Prostate and I thread (I though about naming this thread "My Wife's Breasts and I", but decided it might attract the wrong crowd), I hope you will indulge me a little venting into the abyss in the hopes that it'll make me feel a little better about some terrible news...
