I agree, but in this case he’s very publicly admitted chucking a ’glass’ of beer (an ejectable offence in the Ajax arena) and not knowing where it landed……..he left the club with an easy decision.
….presumably includes other away games already paid for as well, and I think you’re blocked from buying any tickets until the ban ends, so essentially adding another month or so to the ban. Could easily end up being 5 home plus 6-8 away games ?
Think the critical factor in all this is the ejection from the ground and handing over to our stewards……that’s what has led to the action, effectively forcing the club’s hand a bit. Pity the Ajax steward didn’t simply give a ‘final’ warning first instead of jumping straight to chucking him out.
Don't disagree, but it's not really 'reporting' when the subject puts it out in the way he has. Also, if he's still in discussion with the club about it, then going public with something that at least implies critism of the club looks a little bit daft.
The club posted a celebratory video, what he did was a tiny part of that (if visible at all), but agree he was a bit unlucky to be singled out by an Ajax steward for it when he clearly wasn’t the only one who did it - the ban has followed his ejection by them (I suspect that’s binary, and not...
Essentially a 5 match ban for being ejected at an away ground (due to behaviour - which he’s admitted in the article, so ‘seeing the cctv‘ is kind of irrelevant now). I’m even more certain the club got this right reading his account of it
I reckon it's one or two that overstepped the mark significantly, were identified and dragged out by stewards and handed over to our people, not simply anyone who let their drink slip when we scored. Would be good to see a club statement explaining - especially before Athens.
As others have said though, the club have seemingly only taken action against those hauled out by Ajax stewards for their behaviour, not conducted a forensic examination of the CCTV footage for anyone luzzing beer...........so arguably doing nothing wasn't really an option
Got pretty soaked when the goals went in………partly luzzed beer and partly those holding beer nearby celebrating. There were more flying glasses after the second goal I think (as if a few took their lead from what happened after the first goal). It was overall minimal compared to the typical...
