I am in that Hotel too.... there is a good bar round the corner in addition to that South African place,.. one of the reviews say it's good for watching big games... Huis van Iemand Anders.... Look it up,... I deffo plan to pay a visit.
I have been given one recommendation from a regular Dam visitor.... away from the DS and red light.... have a look at the Rembrandtplein area... Trans, busses and a short walk from a Metro stop too.... again, maybe not lively enough for some, but I will take a look during the Thursday.

Any specific area/venues you would recommend?.....I am staying in the Frederiksplein area.... if I decide not to buy a home end ticket, I would hope to find a friendly pub with some locals for the actual game, but will join the Albion lot for pre and post game shenanigans hopefully.
