Thankfully mine hadn't completely gone. Was able to walk to the Dr's (only had a motorcycle licence at the time, no way was I going to try that!) once they were open after the Easter weekend, was determined to only be a minor slip and would (with time) self-heal. But yeah, much like you - always...
Heh. I was doing it for personal interest, not for anything else. Think I was the only one who ever saw them. And if I'm honest, the other guy was a better fielder than me and would have got the nod anyway. My hopes of playing state rep level were dashed when I slipped a disc in my lower back...
To be honest, I never followed the Sheffield Shield as much as I should have as a kid (wasn't easy access on TV), and not very much at all now I'm in the UK. But ... did most of my my growing up near Sydney, so New South Wales. Born in Canberra, though, so do take a degree of interest every now...
Yeah, hence why I split that slot. I was semi-convinced that Cummins gets picked on captaincy reasons, but was he really that much better than Sharma that you need to pick a "specialist captain" into the side?
As far as Maxwell is concerned - he's first pick for my Aussies-only team, because of...
Fair approach. I'm looking at something along these lines:
R Sharma
T Head
Q de Kock
V Kohli
R Ravindra
D Mitchell
R Jadeja
P Cummins (c) [or Madushanka w/ Sharma (c)]
J Bumrah
A Zampa
M Shami
Fair shout on Head - think he misses out initially having played fewer matches, but I agree that's a bad call. I'm not so sure Jadeja should be the one to miss out to get Head in, though - he offered a lot for India with the ball.
Ravindra definitely has to be in that squad: if Mitchell gets...
To be fair, across the whole tournament, I think that's not far off being a fair reflection.
On the bowling side: Shami was the top wicket taker (and only played 7 games), Bumrah was 4th, and in a very high scoring tournament both had economy rates less than 6 (Bumrah near enough to 4). Jadeja...
As an Aussie, happy to confirm I do find that embarrassing to hear. On the flipside, every sporting team has its fair share of knobbers who are more than willing to mouth off with embarrassing statements (especially when their team is losing).
England deserved their win 4 years ago. So would NZ...
The key for me is that Australia learned from those first two losses. They lost vs India in game 1, lost vs SAf in game 2. Then finished off the tournament by beating both of them. Think India, conversely, suffered from not being given a proper working over prior to the final.
20 to get, but Inglis bowled. Means the tail will have to get the remaining runs, and without Maxwell to do the heavy hitting getting 20 might be more difficult than getting 200 was vs AFG...
Maharaj has bowled his 10, though, which plays in Australia's favour I think.
Couple of quiet overs off the back of the double wicket over. Gap between India's worm and NZ's worm at the same point has widened again. NZ can't afford for too long a re-consolidation phase ahead of accelerating again.
Mitchell with cramp problems. Could history repeat?
NZ already well behind after 10 overs. Both openers back in the dressing room, run rate well behind the required. Indian bowlers making life very difficult.
190/7. Omarzai on 68 from 89 balls. Previous highest score 73*, he's had a good tournament be good if he can round it off with a) a new highest score, and b) maybe a 100.
So, after today's result Pakistan now know what they need to do to get into 4th. And that is to absolutely thump England. That could be an entertaining game ... if you're Pakistan and win the toss, do you bat first and look to put on a massive total and heap pressure on the shaky England batting...
From what I've just read, I don't think Bangladesh were even required to "appeal" as such. The rule in the rule book is clear, and doesn't include allowances for broken equipment. Mathews was already pretty much timed out before the strap broke in the first place, so he'd taken his sweet time...
