Well I haven't been over his utterances with a fine tooth comb and, frankly, I doubt there is a great deal for me to learn if I were to do so - I already know he's not the sharpest tool in the box, but did he ever claim to want to be anonymous and, even if he did why not close off with an Oprah...
His having a high profile should not be incompatible with his not being happy about having his phone tapped when he was at school (etc., etc.,).
That sort of false equivalence is not a million miles away from the old 'contributory negligence' argument used to defend rapists when they attacked...
He did something to annoy me. Can't even remember what it was now, although I have a vague recollection of attitudes that I thought had died out with my parents' generation. But I've moved on and I don't do looking back. I'm sure most of his œuvre is fine. It is what it is.
