Precisely!
I've cycled to the Amex this season. It took me a while to try and work out cycle lane/route from the Steine to head north through Brighton. Even now I'm sure I don't do it as well as I could. Cycle lanes have a habit of suddenly coming to an end without any warning and signposting...
Precisely. The changes to the Highway Code in January 2022 were very clear about the hierarchy of road users.
https://www.gov.uk/government/news/the-highway-code-8-changes-you-need-to-know-from-29-january-2022
Pedestrians are at the top of the list and motorised vehicles at the bottom.
The Highway Code states:
"You should give priority to cyclists on the roundabout.
They will be travelling more slowly than motorised traffic.
Give them plenty of room and do not attempt to overtake them within their lane. Allow them to move across your path as they travel around the roundabout".
Nothing pathetic about it at all! What is pathetic and crass is the immediate response from anti cycling posters (just hazarding a guess) that seem happy someone has been knocked off their bike by a car resulting in some nasty facial injuries!!
