The penalty miss was unfortunate. But regarding Evan's form for the Albion, the whole team has been struggling against shitty sides that employ a low block. The main providers from the wing (Solly, Mitoma) have been largely missing, and the rare opportunities that Evan gets for a proper run-out...
Tempting to say he needs more game time, but at the same time he's not really making the most of his limited opportunities. Tho tends to get chucked on by RDZ more in hope than expectation
Luckily his career seems to be largely guided by his dad. Who is doing a grand job of keeping his boy properly grounded. That 18 year old boy is already the ROI Messiah. He'll need every bit of grounding he can get
Two beautifully-taken goals. He's the real deal and no mistake :clap2:
And an amusing moment when the Southampton defender realised that Evan had been helping himself to a bottle of water out of the Saints physio's bag while he was treating their player. He really wasn't happy! :lolol:
Evan's dad Barry, former professional footballer and current development officer with the FAI, will doubtless have steered his son in completely the right direction. Boy's got all the time in the world to make his next move. It's only going to get better for the lad. It's barely even started...
Tho its up to the Albion (and the ROI) to manage Evan's game time, his family appear to have already done a grand job of keeping him grounded. Hard to envisage that changing anytime soon
From this morning's BBC Gossip column:
'Striker Evan Ferguson, 18, will turn down a move to Manchester United because the Republic of Ireland international thinks staying at Brighton will be better for his development. (Sun)'
Loving this quote from Evan on this morning's BBC website:
"It doesn't really bother me. It's just a game of football. It's all talk with people getting excited," he said.
Boy's properly grounded :clap2:
