The link I post above is a live link - National Rail update info as it comes in - there are currently no more planned days of action after the 7th so far.
I imagine that has something to do with the nature of news media reporting - nothing more boring than quoting a balanced, middle of the road view in this life and in these days of social media, ‘truth’ is often what who ever shouts the loudest says it is.
The irony is since the Railways Act 1993 prevented the State from running the railways, many foreign state owned enterprises now run private rail franchises in the UK.
Not really - just that it’s ironic that privatising the railway services has resulted in State run enterprises from overseas...
Ive been ok to date on Southeastern, Great Northern and East Anglian trains - but I have avoided travelling in peak hours (to get a seat and also, being clinically at high risk, to avoid overcrowding).
But yes, often passengers have been willing to help me if travelling with a case/bags - but...
We are going round in circles - 😏 That is why I was quite clear in an earlier post, they should not move to completely unmanned trains as provision needs to be made for very elderly and disabled people - also for public safety reasons.
I already made the same point too which is why I said there needs to be provision for people like myself, requiring assistance on trains due to disability if it goes in the direction of unmanned trains - (Rippleman was talking about staff at the station which is a separate thing to staff on...
No, the opposite- where stations are always unmanned as my local one nearly always is, booking ahead through the national passenger assist or through the regional passenger assist phoneline is the only option. That way they contact the train driver and/or ticket collector before your journey to...
Network Rail who run infrastructure is already in public hands as we know, but I agree, full nationalisation is never likely to become Tory Party Manifesto which is why I said I would probably vote Green who have the strongest political agenda for wanting the entire system back in public hands...
I think you may have been referring to my comment earlier - apologies if not. I certainly wasn’t being blithe!
I use assisted travel most of the time when travelling by train - it’s not necessary to book in advance but you are advised to - there is a national dedicated phone number to do so...
Jack - please read that sentence again - I wasn’t accusing anyone of thinking that. It was a rhetorical question without a ‘they’. But is it a fact, there is collateral damage and that’s the passengers - there always is.
The strikes in the weekdays leading up to Christmas will indeed impact on...
I don’t think the government give two hoots about the likes of lillle ole me and others like me 😉
So passengers like myself, with no access to alternative transport, or who have disabilities and/or who are also reliant on regular and frequent life-saving hospital treatment from the nearest...
I was agreeing with your point that the service is better with online orders/deliveries etc I am totally reliant on online delivery and they are brilliant -
However, when things go wrong (especially with utilities for example) it’s very difficult to sort it online via chat bots or phone -...
I’m getting fed up with all these strikes tbh - I don’t drive, and on a low income. I have had to repeatedly fork out for taxis over the past 6 mnths to get to alternative stations while travelling including when trying to get to the Amex from Norfolk and ended up missing one game I had a ticket...
