OK so not F1, but its been Le Mans this weekend and I've used my 'its too hot outside' breaks to watch it on and off. Some good racing and amazing how close the gaps are after a day of racing especially in the GT class.
A Ferrari won for the first time in 58 years. which is a great story.
Plenty...
Other than Max, the mixed up grid to make things interesting at least. Hopefully Lewis and Lando can stick around at the sharp end. The Alpine upgrade certainly seems to have worked well.
For Merc to get it so wrong one season was bad, the fact that they have persisted with the concept this season is making them look pretty foolish. I'm not surprised that Hamilton is hacked off.
@Audax you might be able to answer this, but does the extra wind tunnel / CFD time work in conjunction with the cost cap? By which I mean are they allowed to spend more money as well as time? if not its kind of pointless right?
Luckily enough the TV cameras ignored the fizzy drink cars for the majority of the race and so the rest of it was actually quite good, with plenty of overtakes going on. Not sure why Mclaren bothered to keep Lando going when surely stopping him and saving mileage on the engine components...
I fear that even with the aero development penalty that the Red Bull / Max combo will still be streets ahead and we'll be in for another yawn of a season.
