And you became a pro footballer or..?
You're right its not the first time he has done it. I remember the Newcastle incident. I also remember dozens of times when he came out on a through ball to prevent a 1on1 on goal. You win some, you lose some.
Look at Allisson, Neuer etc. Any time there is a long ball going over their high backline, they'll be out there to intercept the ball. Here's some "headless chicken" goalkeeping:
Does it work every time? No. But it gives you a better chance than a one on one where the opponent got the entire...
Maybe he wouldn't get grief from you no but he'd hear it from the GK coach after the game.
You teach keepers very early today that they need to leave their goal line to intercept balls and to cut off angles for the opponent.
Sanchez saw the long ball from their goalie, he saw the sprint duel...
If Webster made Haaland fall to the ground, he would likely have been using a chainsaw to saw both of his legs off and that is indeed a red card according to the law book, I believe.
If he had stayed glued on his line like a 1930s goalie he would in no doubt get a bag of shite for not coming out to try to intercept it. He definitely misjudged it but was put in a dire situation.
I'd like to see anyone saying Webster was weak for not being able to keep his balance in a 50/50 duel against a Haaland moving at full pace to try it themselves and get a grasp of reality.
It is 100% impossible to stand up in that situation. When they collide, Webster has just one of his foots on the ground and his left arm slightly behind him as part of the running motion... if you're in that position and a train hits you in the side, you fall over.
Sanchez was reacting to a interesting tactical decision to leave the entire Brighton half of the pitch empty for any through ball to turn into a running contest between the Brighton CBs and Erling Haaland, as well as a individual decision by Lewis Dunk to take a step in front of Haaland to -...
Not really, no. As I see it they go shoulder to shoulder at first and then when Webster is already falling, Haaland pushes him away. But you see the exact same thing in most similar situations, some hands here and there. Difference is that Haaland is obscenely strong so it just gets more noticable.
No foul. Its a contact sport.
Haaland was just stronger.
Find it hard to blame Webster. Don't think there's more than two or three PL CBs that could challenge Haaland in such a situation.
