Has that always been the case with the U23 league or is the over age players a new thing ? I genuinely don’t know much about it. When they used to call it a reserve team I used to look out for the results but I have never bothered since the onset of academies and the U23s.

Pretty similar to the old days of reserve team football. I don’t really think Chelsea are doing anything wrong. It would be impossible to implement a system that ruled on motivations for picking players.

It’s not a stunt if it’s the rules. Presumably the rule is in place because clubs want to be able to field over age players. It’s only Leeds anyway…
