[Cricket] West Indies v England 3rd (and crucial) test official thread

Our club does a lot of promotion for players: posters around the town and a lot of social media. But you're right, a lot of clubs are pretty poor at this, a lot of them don't even update their websites. Sussex are getting a lot better at liaising with clubs but clubs should be doing more to...

The counties would have academies but who are they going to play against? There'll be a time when they have to step up Australia club system is pretty interesting. Unless it's changed in the last couple of years, they have a club system that doesn't use limited over for its leagues (although...

That England side had Strauss, Cook, Trott, Prior, Pietersen, Bell,Swann, Anderson and Broad - that's not just a couple of players papering over the cracks, that's a pretty decent team, all produced by county cricket (OK, KP was half produced). The team that were hammered in Australia still had...

[Cricket] West Indies v England 3rd (and crucial) test official thread

The county system was doing fine about a dozen years ago when we hammered Australia and India home and away. We have an absolutely identical set-up to Australia in terms of first-class teams per head of population. So, the basics are right, but something's gone radically wrong in the way things...

But Brearley played lots of first class cricket and was a regular captain for his county (with some success). He had also previously captained England U25 and Cambridge University. Morgan has next to no experience captaining a F/C team (I don't know if he has any). It's a crazy idea...

It's a left field choice (and I did say IF they want to go outside the existing group of players) but he's a county captain and an opener with an excellent technique, so it's not totally barmy. However, if England did want to look further afield, there'd be more obvious choices: Sam Billings...

[Cricket] West Indies v England 3rd (and crucial) test official thread

Anyone who suggests Morgan clearly knows nothing about cricket. He hasn't played any red ball cricket for the past three seasons, hasn't played a test for 10 years and has got a dodgy back. His test match average is 30, which doesn't suggest someone who's a shoo-in for a place.

One thing seems certain, we're going to see the end of Root as captain. He's a terrible skipper and should have got the boot some time ago. I'd have given it to Broad but I'm not sure that's an option any more - he at least wouldn't have over-bowled our fast bowlers. Look at the good job that...

Should be a good day today. Plenty in this pitch - we could even get a first innings lead. And fair play to the Aussies in the other test. They set Pakistan a gettable 350 at under 3.5 an over and won comfortably. Joe Root, take note: that's how to do a declaration

What the hell's going on? WI are meant to be one of the weaker test nations: if we can't beat them, who can we beat? Time of a series against Afghanistan I reckon
