I believe Bev is correct, encroachment from a defending player does not cause a retake, only if a goal is scored. Similarly, a retake should occur if an attacking player encroaches and a goal is scored.- Baldseagull

That is not the law, if a player from the defending side encroaches, and no goal is scored from the kick, the penalty should be retaken.- Baldseagull
