I was told that it was because of the Rugger. Rupert and JockMcNoearlobes KO at 16:45 on BBC and they didn't want to clash sport across the 2 channels given the sharing of the FA cup on free to air. That's why we have trudge to the arse end of London for 20:00.
Fortunately, I can catch a bit...
Reading between the lines, I think you are right about Spurs. I suspect that they let those ST holders buy by accident and were holding the blocks back but messed up. Not that anyone will admit that of course. It's surely in both clubs interest to maximise the revenue.
Its also a fair point...

Bottom line is that there will probably be at least 10,000 empty seats and that's being generous. Likely to be many more...
For context, in a ground which holds 62.5k, there was a 40k attendance in the last round. The fact people can't get a ticket in a ground that could be 2/3rds full is piss poor co-ordination between the 2 clubs.
I get the point that some people are making that Spurs haven't helped here. That said, We are often told we have a great working relationship with Spurs given PB used to work there. How hard would it have been to utilise those contacts so we didnt run out of Albion tickets in a stadium that...
Paul Barber has been writing to fans saying that because people weren't buying tickets when they are normally asleep he thinks they got the demand spot on. After all, he's never wrong.
Sometimes - despite his undoubted good work that he does do - he can be the ultimate corporate bell cheese...
The public schoolboys are playing Rugger at 17:00 on the BBC assuming Nadine hasn't thrown it in the bin by then. As the FA cup is shared between the 2, they aren't clashing with sport across the 2 channels.
Good news if you care about Chariots and like seeing blokes stick their heads and arses...
