    [Politics] Next PM (proper poll).

Very good post. Thank you for that. When I was in my teens and early 20s, the conservatives certainly seems to fit with some women's preferences; nice men in suits, charmers like Paul Channon, Peter Carrington, Alan Clark, Cecil Parkinson and Ronald Allen*, not smell shouty working...

The NHS, indeed. However labour bottled it, under pressure from the medics, and allowed consultants to parasite the NHS for private practice forever after. I couldn't believe what I was seeing when I came back to the UK in 86. A consultant cardiologist where I worked was one of the first (if not...
  3. Harry Wilson's tackle

    [Politics] Next PM (proper poll).

Just been chatting with Mrs T about who has been a 'great' PM in the past. The answer, surprisingly, was nobody or perhaps Churchill (during the war). There are three who had big personalities, Blair, Thatcher and Boris, all of whom won initially because the opposition were terrible and their...
  4. Harry Wilson's tackle

    [Politics] Next PM (proper poll).

Wow. That post really hits home. It pleases me not that we have a government (and may still have the same government after the next election) that can create such a reaction in someone who would ordinarily support them. I'm quite shocked, actually. To hell with party politics. This is beginning...
  5. Harry Wilson's tackle

    [Politics] Next PM (proper poll).

I don't see anyone forcing a leadership challenge ("Split! Split!"), forcing these MPs to stand (I really doubt Cooper sees herself as the right fit, and Nandy has already tried once and got a massive 16% of the vote), and them actually winning a leadership challenge. None of this is remotely...

If you can't understand the first two quotes you won't appreciate the joke. Criticism of comedy is best done informed.

I prefer Jeder nach seinen Fähigkeiten, jedem nach seinen Bedürfnissen. Unus pro omnibus, omnes pro uno was the motto of the three muskateers  But I'm sure you're a man who knows his Athos from his elbow.

You can only speak for yourself, remember. My views on my own self-importance are my business.

Why is that then? Corbyn not up to it, do you recon?

And if PR had been used they would still have been last past the post. Only 6 million voted in favour of PR if my rudimentray maths are correct ??? 13 million versus 6 is a landslide, even if there are 26 million who simply don't care.

Well, thank you for asking the question on behalf of others. I like a bit of altruism. Very socialist.

I would have agreed with that ten years ago but do these organisations have much traction these days? Apologies if I haven't been keeping up but I though the working class use meme-selected online echo chambers on their phones for the bulk of their information these days.

As if your answers to each of those questions would be different from one another
