One of the fundamental problems with politics these days (or maybe it has always been like this) seems to be the amount of negativity towards candidates, as opposed to people 'selling' themselves to voters. Maybe that's because they are pretty useless to begin with – as Hall seems to be.
For me, it's his previous 'off-the-cuff' stuff that is actually carefully planned/stage managed.

The whole 'rocking up late to an after-dinner engagement and seeming unprepared' and then trotting out the same old routine

Doesn't that kinda backfire when people point out that he beat the Conservative candidate so, by that token, he can't be *that* bad, based on the opinion of, y'know, ACTUAL Londoners?
