[Albion] Marc Cucurella *Signed For Chelsea 05/08/2022*

Marc Cucurella *SINGS on a five-year contract* Yeh. What’s the deal with that? Far better to have him on loan and solve a short term problem than pay a big fee, develop him and then allow Chelsea to buy him back too cheaply. Takes the pressure off the LCB position so we can get the right...

Injured players would still be around the first team getting treatment though. Sounds as if they don’t want him anywhere near.

[Albion] Marc Cucurella *Signed For Chelsea 05/08/2022*

Marc Cucurella *SINGS on a five-year contract* Naylor now reporting that Cucurella’s been told to stay away from training as Potter wants no distractions. Also, nothing decided on either him or Colwill, no medical sanctioned and the £52.5m widely reported is below Albion’s asking price.

Totally this. Very patronising. There seems to be a view - even extending to some journalists - that Brighton have been unreasonable when, in fact, the club is entitled to ask for whatever amount it wants. The original message of £50m+ was surely a 'hands-off' message as much as anything. City...

My guess (just a guess) is that it's a separate deal because they don't want to make Cucurella's departure entirely dependent on Colwill coming the other way.

Ordinarily I’d say they’re slower because they’re checking things. That should be the case and certainly used to be. Seem to have been caught out this time. They don’t operate like Sky who’ve always had the unofficial motto “never wrong for long”.

It’s says no agreement has been reached. That’s got nothing to do with the medical.

Does make perfect sense. You’d imagine Albion’s figure & what we want to pay for Colwill are closely linked. If we’re left without a replacement, maybe Cucurella’s fee rises significantly or the move is off.. And keeping it ‘live’ might make Chelsea a bit more insistent that Colwill’s future...

You’d have to assume his agents are the ones feeding all this information as it’s continued from City to Chelsea. Whoever it is, I don’t think they’ve misunderstood anything at all. There seems to have been a clear policy to force the deal through from the start, even if it means driving a...

Love the two fingers to City but won’t be celebrating until the transfer window closes. They have the money if they really want him and other clubs might fancy a sniff now they know the price we’d sell at. But we won’t be getting spanked by some derisory offer, so that’s good whatever happens.

[Albion] Marc Cucurella *Signed For Chelsea 05/08/2022*

No idea if there’s any truth in the rumour of Spurs now sniffing for Cucurella but it seems quite likely. If anyone thinks City might actually get him for their laughable £30m, I imagine they’ll face a fair bit of competition. Which is great as it can only push the price up to a more realistic...

Can confidently predict that this will all be forgotten very quickly if Cucurella stays and continues to put in the same effort as before. No reason why he wouldn’t as it would simply scupper his chances of a move in future. Can’t hold it against the player. The villains in this are City, not...

[Albion] Marc Cucurella *Signed For Chelsea 05/08/2022*

My prediction - ok, maybe it's just a hope - is that Cucurella will sign a new contract that reflects he's quickly become a key player, with a release clause that satisfies him he'll be able to leave if a Champions League club offers the sort of fee a Champions League club should be offering.

I think they're happy with all the noise. The real intention is to unsettle Cucurella in the hope he pushes so hard for a transfer that Albion drop the price.
