It's just obvious.
If Chelsea were to sell Cuckoo for a £10m loss, they wouldn't also have to pay us a percentage of that sale, that would be ridiculous.
I think that’s a fair price. I don’t think Chelsea have been rinsed. I’d rather he stayed but understand every player has a price.
The agent was just being an agent.ie, lying. Their job is to get the deal done to get paid. They don’t care if one club is underpaid or the other is rinsed. Same as...
Reading this thread I get the impression fans here are happy, but I'm not happy at the thought of him going for £50m. He's better than Ben White IMO and we also had more options in central defence.
If Cucu was, say, a Burnley player, and he was available for £35 million, I'd want us to buy him.
How much have we spent on the likes of Jahanbakhsh and Locadia with no PL experience, to learn it was money wasted?
City bidding at that level is just absurd.
Who would you rather have in our team - Ben White, or Cucu?
That's not a tough question for me, I'd much rather have Cucu, and selling for £50m would be very disappointing.
In answer to the OP, my (personal) price would be £60M. Would settle for a bit less, but would be disappointed with anything less than £50M. Comparing him to other defenders sold by English clubs to the big six, he is better than, for instance, Ake and Wan Bissaka, both of whom went for around...
Has there been any indication from Brighton of what fee we'd accept? Suggestions of a £30m offer from City are ludicrous. I might as well offer to buy Grealish off of city for 20 quid, and pay him a tenner him to weed my garden.
Yeah I agree.
We've spent something like £15m - £17m for players with no PL experience, several of whom weren't quite up to the standard. A young player who is up to it, should be worth a lot more than that. And Cucurella is more than just 'up to it', he's brilliant.
Here's a comparison -...
I was really meaning to others - ie, the price for White was £50m, would the price for Cucu be similar, higher or lower. Although I suppose that how valuable he is for us right now affects whether we'd accept a fair market value.
Obviously I hope he stays regardless, he's a joy to watch. But if...
