The press are reporting that Chelsea are putting 4 players up for sale having paid a combined £161 million for them. The quartet are as follows:
Cucurella - £175K a week, 5 yrs left on contract
Disasi - £80K a week, 5 1/2 years left on contract
Noni Madueke - £50K a week, 7 yrs left on...
I don't understand why City bid £30 mill hours after selling Zinchenko for £32 mill. I would have thought the bid would have to have exceeded the £40 mill they paid for Ake to at least get somewhere near the Albion's figure.
Given the Albion are now an established Prem club producing quality...
By selling Zinchenko to Arsenal for £32 million City have weakened their negotiating position. Now they have cash and no left back cover.
Maybe they think that just because they are City the player will kick up a fuss and the club will be forced to accept a lower price, but I don't think that...
He is also a proven Premier League player and a Spanish international. Like with White and Bissouma there's no unknown quantity here. Moreover, his price could go up - if he was English he'd have the left back spot nailed down already.
I think City don't want to pay £50 mill, that's the price we've set, transfer precedent with Chilwell and Wan Bissaka would indicate that's a fair price for a player with many years left on his contract.
I wish they'd either pay up or piss off.
I'm surprised that Cornet's £17.5 million release clause hasn't yet been met. I think he would be perfect for the Albion, either as LWB or competition as LW / striker.
The benchmark should be Ben Chilwell who joined Chelsea from Leicester at the same age - 23 - also from a club in the second quartile of the Premier League.
Cucurella has played one more season in the top flight than Chilwell had when he made his move, and across 2 of Europe's top leagues...
The club is faced with shelling out some cash for both Cucurella AND Nunez. It may be the case 100% cash up front for Cucurella could leave us short for the cash component of the Nunez deal. Half of the Cucurella cash represents a quarter of the Nunez cash.
The wing-back system not only suits us but it is a great way of nullifying teams like Watford that try and get the ball forward quickly to their dangerous wide men, and with our personnel it gives us great height at set pieces.
It also enables Potter to start Gross whilst also playing Biss...
Good news, along with Solly's new contract and Andone's imminent departure to Cadiz.
We just need Locadia out and a new striker in to replace Andone and it will have been a good window. This side has a nice balance to it:
Sanchez - Lamptey - Cucurella - Veltman - Webster - Dunk - Bissouma -...
We've already got rid of 3 wide men in Izquierdo, Ali J and Tau so there's definitely a place for March in the squad, even with Cucurella.
I think Solly has worked hard at his game, but I've always felt a little uneasy with his defending in and around the penalty area. It is clear he is not a...
The bloke was at Barcelona with Firpo, who got the nod over Cucurella who then went out on loan. Leeds just signed Firpo for c. £12 mill. Top whack for Cucurella is €18 mill. €30 mill is a fantasy figure rhat nobody would pay.
I'm not optimistic. Nicholas Gonzalez chose managerless, lower mid-table side Fiorentina over us, so considering Roma finished 7th, have Mourinho and are in Europe you'd expect Cucurella to choose them.
If he bins off the might of Rome for us he will already be halfway to legend status.
