Lots of understandable vitriol on here towards Chelsea, but the truth is, they are a top striker away being a top 4 team.
Not a popular opinion, but if they sell some of their duds and buy a reliable striker they'll be in contention again next season.
If nothing else, He's left footed. Something we are already short of, even with Cucurella.
But if Cucurella does go, we've plenty of time left to replace him. Last summer we signed him with only hours to spare before the window closed.
Well, there was that very naughty knee high tackle by Jahanbakhsh on Gundogan who was injured and forced off soon after.
I think that one tackle is the source of their ire.
But other than that, the match wasn't particularly dirty.
Good point. He is a utility player, good ball retention and a fair defender (though not good enough to be a first choice)
His USP for our midfield is he is a left footer, the only one we have (ignoring Lallana who's ambidextrous).
As the only one out of 13 he does offer something a bit different.
4 goals and 10 assists in 5 Premier League seasons. The sort of numbers that many players in his position would be disappointed with in a single season.
A loan makes no sense. An offer of an outright purchase would be more sensible.
We have obviously scouted him previously so we know what he can do. Arsenal tried to use him as a left back, but he is better suited as a wing back which suits our formation more than theirs. They will have Tierney...
Good knowledge.
It does sound a bit iffy. Almost as dodgy as a sports world governing body who run thier own enforced compulsory competitions for profit at the expense of member national competitions.
All of football is a dirty business run by faceless Alfredo Pöges.
This debate re Guardiola is too subjective to be definitive. What's undeniable is his style of football has been the leading influence on how the modern game is played. Even our Graham is replicating much of Peps style, high press, tiki taka, possession based football.
There is an organisation...
If you think free transfers are really free then you're badly mistaken. They may be slightly cheaper, but a transfer fee is still paid. Its just that its deposited into their own bank account and called a signing on fee.
He strikes me as the sort who wants to go into management. I feel we'll still benefit from his experience, even he never kicks another ball for us. He may even step into Graham's size 9s when the bearded one eventually moves on, in 3 or 4 years.
As you know many footballers use media agencies to handle their social media accounts to avoid faux pas such as this.
Do we know if Marc handles his own?
I totally agree, thankfully we look like we've got that cash on the hip. Not only the wherewithal and time but also the sense to spend it wisely. Fingers crossed.
I agree that we would miss his energy, but a fully fit Lampety on the right could offer the same but different.
Ideally we could have both, but that now seems unlikely.
Yes we will miss Cucurella, but not as much as some think. We've moved beyond one player being the difference between feast...
You say he solved our Achilles heel, but did he really? He scored 1 goal and made 2 assists all season.
This screen shot from whoscored hints thay he performed best on the left of a back 3.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed his energy but our form really took a turn for the better once we sold...
